Krishna and Kaliya, the Mighty Snake
Share

Down by the river, so deep and wide,
The waters were dark, with poison inside.
No fish could swim, no birds could sing,
For Kaliya, the serpent, ruled like a king!
His hissing was fierce, his eyes glowed red,
All the villagers trembled in fear and dread.
But little Krishna, so brave and true,
Knew exactly what he must do!
With a twinkle of mischief, he took a leap,
And landed right on Kaliya's heap!
The serpent hissed, twisted, and spun,
But Krishna just smiled, it was all in fun!
He danced on the serpent, step by step,
With little feet, so light and deft.
Round and round, he twirled in glee,
Till Kaliya gasped, "Oh, spare me!"
"Leave this river, and go away!
No more poison, from this day!"
Kaliya bowed, then slid from sight,
And the river sparkled, fresh and bright!
The waters shimmered, clean once more,
The birds returned, the fish did soar!
The village cheered, their hearts so light,
For Krishna had filled their world with light!
